Buying Guide
How to Size
Bauer sizes by height and weight. Warrior sizes by arm span – measure from fingertip to fingertip with arms fully outstretched. Use the size charts below.
Protection Level
Pro-level protectors use multi-density foams and hard inserts for maximum protection. Entry senior protectors offer solid protection for club and recreational play.
Mobility
Senior goalies at higher levels should look for segmented arm construction that allows full blocker and glove movement without shifting. Test in a full butterfly before purchasing.
Coverage
Ensure the protector covers the collarbone, sternum, ribs and kidneys and connects with the top of the leg pads without leaving an exposed gap at the waist.

Fit Tips +
Chest Coverage
The protector must cover the sternum, collarbone and ribs fully with no exposed areas between the protector and the pants or leg pads.
Arm Coverage
Arm protection should run from shoulder to elbow on both sides without rotating or shifting when the glove and blocker are raised.
Butterfly Test
Drop into a butterfly and check the protector does not ride up or restrict movement. Full range of motion without gaps in coverage is the goal.
Between Sizes
If between sizes, size up for better coverage. A protector that is slightly large can be adjusted with straps, but one that is too small leaves gaps in protection.
FAQ +
How should a senior chest protector fit? +
The protector should cover the sternum, collarbone, ribs and kidneys without gaps. It should be snug but not restrict breathing or movement. Test in a full butterfly and with both arms raised to confirm coverage and mobility.
What is the difference between entry and pro-level chest protectors? +
Entry-level protectors use thicker, heavier foams suited for recreational play. Pro-level protectors use multi-density foams and hard plastic inserts that are lighter and better at absorbing high-velocity shots at the competitive level.
Should the chest protector overlap the leg pads? +
Yes – the bottom of the chest protector should overlap slightly with the top of the leg pads in the butterfly to prevent an exposed gap at the waist.
How do I care for my chest protector? +
Air out after every session and never store damp. Wipe the outer shell with a damp cloth. Check all straps and buckles regularly.
