Buying Guide
How to Size
Bauer sizes by height and weight. Warrior sizes by arm span. Use the size charts below and size up when between sizes for better coverage.
When to Move Up
If measurements are at the top of the intermediate range or the protector feels short in the torso, look at senior sizing for better coverage and more model options.
Coverage
The protector should cover the sternum, collarbone, ribs and kidneys. Check that it connects with the top of the leg pads in the butterfly without leaving a gap.
Mobility
Test in a full butterfly before purchasing. The protector should not ride up or restrict arm movement when raising the blocker or glove hand.

Fit Tips +
Chest Coverage
The protector must cover the sternum, collarbone and ribs fully without gaps between it and the pants or leg pads.
Butterfly Test
Drop into a butterfly and check the protector does not ride up or restrict movement. Full range of motion without coverage gaps is the goal.
Between Sizes
Size up when between sizes for better coverage. Straps can compensate for a slightly larger fit, but a protector that is too small leaves gaps.
Arm Protection
Arm sections should run from shoulder to elbow without rotating when the glove and blocker are raised above the head.
FAQ +
How should an intermediate chest protector fit? +
The protector should cover the sternum, collarbone, ribs and kidneys without gaps. It should be snug but allow a full butterfly drop and full arm movement.
When should an intermediate goalie move to senior sizing? +
When height, weight or arm span exceed the intermediate range, or the protector feels short in the torso, it is time to look at senior sizing.
Should the chest protector overlap the leg pads? +
Yes – the bottom of the chest protector should overlap slightly with the top of the leg pads in the butterfly. If there is a visible gap at the waist, size up or choose a model with extended belly protection.
How do I care for an intermediate chest protector? +
Air out after every session and never store damp. Wipe the outer shell with a damp cloth and check all straps regularly.
