Bauer Vapor Flylite Color Sticks

Bauer's Vapor Flylite already earned its spot at the top of the wishlist last season. Now it's back in five all-new colorways — Black, Red, Blue, Purple and Glacier. Here's what's under the graphic, and how to pick the right one for your game.

Bauer Vapor Flylite Color Sticks: Same Elite DNA, Five All-New Looks

When Bauer dropped the new Vapor Flylite last year, it didn't take long for it to land at the top of the wishlist. The TWITCH Taper, the aluminum-reinforced blade, the 360-gram shaft — it added up to one of the most reactive low-kick sticks Bauer had ever shipped. The only thing the original launch was missing? Options.

That's been solved. The Vapor Flylite Color Sticks bring the same elite construction back in five completely new colorways — Black, Red, Blue, Purple, and Glacier. Same release. Same balance. New presence on the ice. Here's what's under the graphic, why it matters in real game situations, and how to pick the right size, flex, and curve for your game.

The Technology, Explained

The Color Sticks aren't a redesign — they're the same Flylite platform that's already proven itself at the elite level. Four core technologies define how it performs. None of them are decorative.

TWITCH Taper Technology

Bauer's signature taper sits closer to your bottom hand than any previous Vapor stick. That moves the flex point higher and creates a quicker load and faster recoil — meaning the puck is gone before a defender reads your hands. It's the headline tech on the Flylite, and it's where the feel difference is most obvious from the first wrist shot.

HYP2RCORE Blade with Aluminum

A thin sheet of aluminum is bonded inside the carbon blade. That sounds counter-intuitive on a stick this light, but the engineering math works: aluminum keeps the overall weight down while reinforcing the blade against rotation and dead spots. The payoff is roughly 10% more recoil compared to standard carbon blades — translation: more pop, more accuracy, less feel-fade after fifty hard shots.

ACL 2.0 Carbon Construction

The shaft uses Bauer's advanced carbon layering with TeXtreme® weave — strategically placed thinner, stronger fibers that drop the total shaft weight to 360g (±10g). At Senior length, that's lighter than most elite sticks on the market and balanced so you don't feel top-heavy on quick stick lifts or dangles.

Low Kick Profile

The flex point sits low on the shaft, near the blade. That's the classic Vapor signature — designed for snap shots, quick releases, and tight-area puck handling rather than long winders or slappers. If you live in the offensive zone and your shots are reactive instead of pre-loaded, this is the kick profile you want.

Why It Actually Matters

Spec sheets are easy to skim past. Here's what the Flylite tech actually feels like in real ice situations:

Off the rush

The combination of low kick and TWITCH Taper means you can rip a wrist shot in stride without the wind-up. By the time the defender registers your hand position, the puck is already past their stick.

In tight quarters

360 grams isn't a number that means much until you're cycling pucks below the dots and need to make three moves in two seconds. The lighter shaft and balanced blade let you stick-handle aggressively without fighting your own equipment.

On the one-timer

The aluminum-reinforced HYP2RCORE blade keeps its pop deep into the third period. That matters more than people admit — a lot of sticks soften up after extended use, and the Flylite holds onto its snap longer than most.

On a long wrist shot

The TWITCH Taper loads faster than the older Vapor taper geometry — so even from outside the dots, the shot is away before the goalie has time to fully set. It's the kind of edge that turns 50/50 chances into goals.

Five Colorways. One Weapon.

Every color shares the exact same construction — same TWITCH Taper, same HYP2RCORE blade, same 360-gram shaft. The difference is purely visual. Five takes on the Vapor identity, ranging from understated to impossible to ignore.

Black

All-black shaft with subtle tonal flame graphics. The stealth move — picks up your team colors instead of fighting them. The default pick if you want elite tech without making a statement.

Red

Black base with bold red flame graphics running down the shaft. Loud, aggressive, and the strongest match if your team runs red. Pair it with red tape and you're not missing.

Blue

The colorway closest to the Vapor heritage — vivid electric blue energy lines on a black shaft. Classic Bauer DNA, updated.

Purple

Black shaft with deep purple flame accents. The boldest of the five — not a color you see on the ice often, which is the point. If you want to stand out without going full neon, this is it.

Glacier

The wildcard. Deep midnight base with icy turquoise highlights — the most distinctive of the lineup and the closest the collection gets to the limited-edition feel of past Vapor specials.

Which Size to Buy

The Flylite Color Sticks ship in four sizing tiers covering everything from full-grown senior players down to the smallest junior. Length and flex range track together — go up in size, go up in flex.

Size Length Flex Range Best For
Senior 62" 65 – 87 Full-grown adult players
Intermediate 58" – 60" 55 – 65 Teens, smaller adults
Junior 52" – 54" 40 – 50 Players ~10–13 years
Jr. 30 Flex 50" 30 Youngest players still developing shot mechanics

Quick rule of thumb on flex: take half your body weight as a starting point and adjust based on shooting style. Players who load the shot hard go stiffer; players who rely on quick wrist shots and snap releases go softer. The Flylite's low-kick profile rewards a flex that you can fully load — too stiff and you'll lose the TWITCH Taper benefit entirely.

Blade Patterns: P92, P90TM, P28

Three core curves run across the Color Sticks line — Bauer's three most popular patterns. Each one changes how the puck releases off the blade:

Pattern Curve Face Best For
P92 Mid Open All-around shooting
P90TM Mid Open Larger blade face, one-timers
P28 Toe-hook Very open Toe drags, roof shots

P92 is the most versatile — an open mid-curve that's forgiving on receiving passes and works for almost any shooting style. If you're not sure which curve you want, start here.

P90TM is a mid-curve hybrid — a slightly larger blade face than P92 with a similar open lie. It rewards shooters who want extra puck surface for one-timers and saucer passes without going full toe-curve. Great middle ground if P92 feels small and P28 feels extreme.

P28 is the toe-curve specialists' choice. Heavy hook, very open face — built for elevating the puck quickly, ripping toe drags, and dragging pucks off the ice on roof shots. Less forgiving on the backhand, but devastating on the forehand.

The Bottom Line

The Vapor Flylite Color Sticks aren't a re-engineered stick — they're a chance to put the same elite tech that already proved itself last season into the look that matches the way you play. Five colorways, four sizes, three curves, and a flex range from 30 all the way to 87. Whatever flavor you're after, the answer is in this lineup.
