Description

The Warrior Alpha Pro Junior Shin Guards are the flagship for the young ice hockey player who plays physically and needs full protection in tougher games. With perforated slash guards, IMPAX foam and the Sling Wrap strap system, the junior player gets the same pro-level protection elite seniors rely on — in a fit for growing legs.

Pro protection that doesn't weigh you down

The perforated, molded slash and calf guards are designed to be as light as possible without compromising protection. For young players who are active and move a lot, weight matters — and Alpha Pro delivers pro protection without feeling bulky.

Sling Wrap fit for secure positioning

The Sling Wrap system with Fantom Stretch keeps the shin guard in exactly the right position throughout the game — no sliding, no twisting. For young players who aren't always used to adjusting gear, this is a fit that "just works."

Floating knee for natural motion

The removable liner with sub-cell floating knee means the knee cap always finds its position regardless of how the junior player flexes the leg. Lay Flat straps don't catch on hockey socks — important for young players who dress themselves.

Key features

  • Perforated, lightweight molded slash and calf guards
  • Compression-molded IMPAX EVA foam in key impact zones
  • Sling Wrap strap system with Fantom Stretch
  • Lay Flat straps that don't catch on socks

Bottom line: The Warrior Alpha Pro Junior Shin Guards are the shin guards for young elite players who want the same gear as the pros. Find Warrior hockey gear and other junior ice hockey equipment at MonkeySports.

Size Guide

Warrior Shin Guards

Find the right size for Youth, Junior and Senior — measure your shin length for the best fit.

How to Measure

1
Shin Length

Measure from the centre of the kneecap down to the centre of the outer ankle. Measure in cm.

2
Seated Measurement

Sit with your knee bent at 90° for a more accurate reading — this prevents the thigh from affecting the result.

3
Size in Inches

Shin guard size is listed in inches and refers to the actual length of the pad — not your height.

4
Fit

The shin guard should cover from just above the ankle to just below the kneecap without blocking the knee joint.

Youth

Youth Sizes Approx. ages 3–9

Size Shin Length (cm) Height (cm)
8" 25–28 cm 102–112 cm
9" 28–30 cm 112–122 cm

Junior

Junior Sizes Approx. ages 8–13

Size Shin Length (cm) Height (cm)
10" 30–33 cm 122–132 cm
11" 33–36 cm 132–142 cm
12" 36–38 cm 142–152 cm
13" 38–41 cm 152–163 cm

Senior

Senior Sizes Approx. age 14 and up

Size Shin Length (cm) Height (cm)
14" 41–43 cm 163–173 cm
15" 43–46 cm 170–180 cm
16" 46–48 cm 178–188 cm
17" 48+ cm 185+ cm

TipWhen in doubt, size up rather than down. A shin guard that is too short leaves the lower shin and ankle exposed and increases the risk of injury.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I measure shin length correctly? +

Sit with your knee bent at 90°. Measure from the centre of the kneecap down to the centre of the outer ankle. Measure in cm and compare against the table above.

How should shin guards fit? +

The shin guard should cover from just above the ankle up to just below the kneecap. It should not push up against the kneecap and block the knee, and should not leave a gap above the skate boot at the bottom.

Is it better to size up or size down? +

Slightly too large is better than too small — a shin guard that is too short leaves the lower shin and ankle exposed. That said, too large reduces control and can slide. Always aim for the correct size based on your shin measurement.

Is the sizing the same as Bauer shin guards? +

The sizing system is the same — inch sizes based on shin length. Fit and pad design differ between brands, but the measuring method is identical. You can use the same shin measurement for both.
