01 The Design Brief

Rebuild every contact point on the protective set for a different body. Then do it twice — once for the senior player, once for the junior.

Vapor Fly didn't get the luxury of a clean sheet. It had to feel like Vapor — the same family that's defined Bauer's protective lineup for thirty years. The DNA had to stay. The proportions could not.

Bauer's design team rebuilt the anatomy from the body up: forearm length, knee cap depth, sternum geometry, hip silhouette, strap placement, padding volume by zone. Six fundamental changes across the set, each one tuned to the female frame.

The collection arrives in two lines that share the same foundation. Vapor Fly-W for senior players — NANOSENSE liner, Forward-Flex Closure, DynaFlex Strap, Independent HD Spine. Vapor Fly-G for the junior player — THERMO MAX liner, Extension Fit pant, Lock Strap with comfort sleeve, Independent MD Spine.

Where · Elbow Pad

Shortened Low-Profile Forearm

The elbow pad's forearm follows the actual length and taper of a woman's arm. A tighter wrist line, no excess past the glove, cleaner puck-handling. Combined with a Floating Bicep for free range of motion.

Deeper Knee Cap

Built deeper than the men's equivalent to match the wider, more angled position of the female femur. Lower strap placement secures without pinching. The X-LITE Shield Shin Cap keeps construction light, and the Dual Anchor Strap locks it through aggressive skating.

Contoured Chest Plate

A contoured vest with a low-profile, anatomically molded sternum. Protects sensitive areas without adding bulk — closes the gap problem of men's pads. Low-profile caps and ribs cut volume in the shoulder area.

Molded Hip Guard

Hip guard follows the silhouette of the female hip rather than a universal shape. Fly-W: Adjustable One-Piece with Forward-Flex Closure. Fly-G: Molded Hip Guard with Extension Fit, adjusting up to 2.5 cm.

Anatomical Liner

Fly-W uses NANOSENSE — a smooth-finish liner engineered to minimize abrasion through long sessions. Fly-G uses THERMO MAX Sublimated Liner, tuned for younger skin with a softer touch and color-printed graphics.

Strap System

Strap placement was rebuilt for the female frame. Fly-W: DynaFlex Strap on the elbow — secure fit without the pinch. Fly-G: Lock Strap with Comfort Sleeve — simple for young players, secure enough for game pace.

A fundamentally rebuilt chest section with a contoured vest and anatomical sternum.

Protects sensitive areas without adding bulk — solving the chronic problem of men's shoulder pads either crushing the chest or leaving gaps. Low-profile caps and ribs cut volume in the shoulder area, where a woman's frame typically needs less padding mass than a male player's.

Elbow Pad

Shortened forearm that follows the actual taper of a woman's arm.

A tighter wrist line means no excess pad sticking past the glove into the puck-handling zone. Combined with a Floating Bicep that delivers free range of motion through the upper arm — the pad moves with the arm rather than fighting it.

Deeper knee cap built for the female femur position.

Built deeper than the men's equivalent to match the wider, more angled position of the female femur. Lower strap placement secures the guard without pinching the inner knee. The X-LITE Shield Shin Cap keeps the construction light, and the Dual Anchor Strap locks the guard in place through aggressive skating.

Molded hip guard that follows the female silhouette — paired with line-specific closures.

Fly-W gets an Adjustable One-Piece Hip Guard with Forward-Flex Closure for proper forward lean while skating. Fly-G gets a Molded Hip Guard with Extension Fit — the pant length adjusts up to 2.5 cm, giving a full extra season of fit out of one set of gear.
